Engineering Portfolio

I build, test, and improve real things.

I'm David McDonald. This site documents hands-on engineering projects involving CAD, additive manufacturing, automotive systems, prototyping, and iterative design.

About

I like projects where design decisions can be tested against actual results rather than stopping at the CAD model.

Hands-on engineering

My portfolio focuses on practical problem solving: defining a need, designing a solution, building or simulating it, measuring what happened, and using those results to improve the design.

Featured projects

Selected projects with documented iterations, decisions, and measured results.

01

Compact FDM 3D-Printed TV Stand

Designed in Fusion 360 and optimized using slicer feedback. The second iteration reduced estimated print time by 48.8% and filament use by 34.8%.
